Moscow launch their very own boats

The world’s number one open top operator City Sightseeing, with the support of Moscow Tourism Committee and Moscow Transportation Department, which launched an open-top double decker bus tour in the City last August, has surprised Muscovites and visitor to the Russian capital by launching river tours on the Russian May holidays (Workers' Day and V-Day).

Starting on May 1st, two river passenger boats "Edigu" and "Venice" painted bright red – similar to the iconic buses – embark on their cruises from piers at Bolotnaya square, Gorky Park and Novospassky monastery.

The boats can seat up to 33 passengers each and the tour itself lasts one hour and operates every hour taking in some of the most famous landmarks around Moscow's Golden Island by the Vodo'otvodny channel including a stop at Gorky park. The river cruise ticket is also valid on the same hop-on hop-off City Sightseeing doubledeckers buses allowing passengers to hop-on and hop-off the boats and buses at their leisure at any of the stops within 24 hours.

The boats also include a sophisticated 8-language commentary system in: Russian, English, German, Spanish, French, Chinese, Italian and Arabic.

The 24-hour ticket costs 600 roubles (€15) for adults (15-59 years), 500 roubles (€13) for seniors (60+ years), students of all ages upon student ID and children (5-15 years). Children under 5 years old are as well as war veterans, people with disabilities of all types, and mass media representatives.

One of the most amazing sights of Moscow that can only be seen close up from a boat is a giant 98-meter monument to Peter the Great by notorious Georgian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, which stands on an artificial island.

"Introduction of excursions on the Moskva River with a hop-on hop-off concept is a logical synergistic addition to our bus tours, so we went a step further and for the convenience of tourists we introduced a special combo ticket that allows not only to save on each of the trips, but also entitles you to ride our on our buses and river boats as many times as you want within 48hrs. With fares as low as 1,000 roubles (€25) it really is just the ticket for Muscovite visitors!” said General representative of City Sightseeing Russia Sergei Lavrentyev.
