From Piraeus, the main port of Greece and the biggest in Mediterranean, our tour is a mix of ancient history and modern development. We stop at the main harbour, with its cruise boats, travel past Marina Zea harbour, with its myriad of tall mast ships, schooners and cruisers, and onward past Microlimano harbour, a pretty fishing port where once Themistocles' victorious Triremes were berthed before the epic, history changing - sea battle of nearby Salamis. The archaeological and nautical museums here are well worth a visit.
