Kraków is home to one of Europe’s oldest academic centres - Jagiellonian University occupies some of the most historic buildings in the city. The Old Town is surrounded by city walls from all sides and beautiful gardens called Planty. Krakow's historic center is also on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
